LANSING, MI — Emergent Biosolutions said on Wednesday it has laid off 300 people and eliminated 85 unfilled positions in a restructuring. The company is the parent company of Lansing’s BioPort Corp., which is the only company in the nation that produces an anthrax vaccine.
It’s not clear how many positions in Lansing might be impacted by the move. Emergent Biosolutions, which makes the Narcan nasal spray rapid opioid overdose reversal drug, is based in Maryland.
According to LEAP, the mid-Michigan economic development organization, the company employs about 300 workers at its mid-Michigan facility near Lansing’s Capital Region International Airport.
