LANSING, MI — The Lansing School district has cancelled all sports and other fall extra-curricular activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The school announced Thursday that all fall sports and any other extracurricular activities, such as band and cheerleading, offered by the school district will be canceled until further notice. However, activities that offer remote participation can continue for now.
“I know how disappointing the cancellation of sports and extra-curricular activities may be for students, coaches and parents, but the school district must make decisions moving forward that make safety our top priority,” said Sam Sinicropi, interim superintendent for Lansing public schools.
The school district plans to begin remote learning for students later this month.
